Catherine Beaded doll..

Catherine's skirt made using,   clear and mauve # 11 glass seed beads, #8 perle cotton and 1.25 knitting needles..
I love this doll, she is so easy to do and quickly knitted.. The doll it self, was made by a local lady Margie.. Her work is just superb. The detailing in so fine and delicate..all painted by hand..

They are off to new homes this Christmas, and I know the ladies they are going to will cherish them.. Beadknitting is very relaxing, and I have  another 3 already made and waiting for a doll.
Hope your day is a sunny one :))
Thanks for stopping by , I hope you will leave me a message, I love to receive them :))

Christmas Cushion

Hello everyone,
I hope your weekend  is going well :)) It is raining here in the North of the state, and the plants are loving it. Although a little wet for the Deloraine Craft Fair..
I have finished one of three Christmas cushions. Quite pleased with pattern.. I like to crochet what ever comes into the mind at the time.:)) I dislike having to read patterns .
a close up of the pattern.

Reverse of cushion..

I can't honestly say I am pleased with this side as it seems lopsided to me.. Have you ever crochet a granny blanket only to find the centre is crooked?? I would love to know why?? Although I did think it is because the centre is of a firmer tension,Or a little loose, which ever the case maybe..
When I have completed the next cushion I will upload a pic..
What ever you may be doing this weekend, enjoy :))

What a joy he is going to be.. :))

UFOs

3 UFOs..
With only a couple of UFOs to finish before Christmas,I am starting to feel a little more relaxed.
The sun is shining outside , but the wind is cold, and I don't like the cold.. Bring on Summer.!!!!!!!
Beaches, BBQs, Picnics Cool long drinks..
Will I have time to crochet I hear you ask.. To right I will, I'll bring out the #20 cotton and finish a table runner and
a doily that has been waiting for ... years... Dream on :))
Back to the here and now, the hexagons I am making into a rug, and joining them with flat braid join.. I found the info here .
The crochet group I belong to here in Aus, exchange 7"squares, which I forgot to mention I have a pile, waiting to be joined. So that makes another UFO to be added to the list.. The exchanges are a lot of fun, and I do love receiving mail in the post.
Received from a member in NSW.

What do you
have in the way of UFOs ??? its confession time ..:))
Now for the other rug I am pleased to report LOL the baby shawl is finished yippee.
The reversible Hungarian rug, is almost complete ,
a few more rows should see that finished..

Close up of stitch..
Have a great day everyone and thanks for stopping by..
Till next time .. keep those hooks movin':))

It's here...

Great excitement this afternoon, The postal van pulled up and sure enough my bride doll had arrived.. Even with our internet we still have to wait for the post. I am a late starter at ordering online, but I am loving it...
The doll is called Andrea and is beautifully  hand painted by Kerry  I ordered the stand as well.. She has so many lovely dolls to choose from.  I also have a baby doll dressed in white..

This is the first stand I have ordered and very pleased with it, It comes in 3 pieces and fits the doll perfectly..

Andrea.

All I need to do now is to stop Blogging and start beadknitting. She is going to look beautiful... don't you think?

   Thanks for stopping by :))

Beadknitting for bears

I love these little bears...... My DD collected bears when she was young, there were bags of them..... how do we reduce these bags of funny cute faced stuffed bears? Remember they are stuffed...... I didn't think it would be hard to do.. There were bears of every size. But eventually, we did.  I still have the problem of passing them by if I am in a Toy shop,or St Vinnies.
Harrods, Nicolas Bear.
My friend and I were shopping in St Vinnies one day and I came across a small bag of little bears, and you guessed it, I bought it... My friend pointed out to me that there was one in there with "H" on it foot.. She said "Harrods". I looked  it up on the Internet to discover the asking price on e-bay was $50.00...... not bad for the purchase price of $3:00.... Nicolas is the 20th Anniversary  bear..

I also received my beads and cotton for that long awaited project of beadknitting a brides outfit.... When the doll arrives I will take a pic of it all .but here is what I made today..

Beads and cotton.

My order for beads and cotton have arrived at my friends home, and I can't wait to receive them....
They are size 11 and #8 cotton The joy will be threading the beads, this time I am putting a sheet on the carpet to recover any lost beads.....
I am attempting to knit a wedding dress, I am hoping the doll will turn up this week via post from MSW, along with the stand.......
This pic is of a doll my friend found at the local  markets , I knitted the skirt with size11 glass beads.  #468. #8 dmc. cotton..The flowers are from my eldest Daughter for Mothers Day. The fragrance from the flowers filled the room , I think they were ginger lillies(?) but can be corrected on that ..Well it is off to the craft room for more inspiration..:))

Pink Purse

Here is the purse in pink I made from Bendigo cotton 8ply..It is quite sweet, but not the correct size.. There are a few alinement's I will have to watch when making the next . I think I will crochet the seams on the outside to make it a little different from the original pattern. But all in all I am pleased with pattern. The cotton used in the pattern from Lion Brand is cotton ease and the size when finished should measure6x10".

Bead knitting and crochet: Bendigo cottons

Bead knitting and crochet: Bendigo cottons

Bendigo cottons

I love my Bendigo cotton, I had the good fortune to travel to the city of Bendigo and to the mill,( after all isn't that why I wanted to go the lovely town ) I was thrilled when we parked the car and I practically ran into the shop, I was so excited.. They also had a back room where you could explore deep boxes of slightly soiled cotton, or seconds.. So far none of mine have had any marks....... If you are able to visit this mill, I promise you , you will not be disappointed .

A bit of Longford..

It is such a great day, I couldn't resist the temptation, to take a few pics of the historic town of Longford...... Everyone seemed to be out and about today, taking advantage of the winter sun.Walking around the town, I stopped at the Church where the winter leaves covered the ground. The trees in the church grounds would have to be 100yrs old.. I couldn't help but think of the people who had been through these doors . Farmers,  wives and children. Store owners,Workers, how far they travelled in their horse and carts.. What a marvelous history.

I was introduced to beadknitting for half porcelain dolls , just a couple of years ago..I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Well It has taken over a part of my life.. I have these dolls around my home , I have made outfits for tassle dolls, knitted dresses for tiny bears, and given gifts of these beautiful hand made porcelain dolls...
The latest doll is the one in the pic to the left, beautifully made by Kerry jaeger..
